REGIONAL RANKING TRIALS BATTS HARLOW 1/2 DECEMBER 2007

The Regional Ranking Trials were held at BATTS Harlow over the weekend of 1/2 December 2007 with Under 11, 13 and 15 players from Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire taking part.

The trials were dominated by the Peniel Academy players who secured five of the nine qualification places for the National Trials Finals in Allerton, Derbyshire on 12/13 April 2008 in the Saturday events. Of the Essex players who accepted the invitations to compete in these Trials only Luca Mariano qualified, winning the Under 15 Boys event with Guy Ben-Aroya (Herts) the runner up and Jack Cleminson (Peniel) third. Alex Donker, Phillip Lawson and Jorden Allen failed to survive the first round Groups, finishing third, third and fifth respectively in the Groups of six.

In the Under 13 Boys event, the qualifiers were Azarel Adebanjo and Alex Holland, both Peniel, and Luke Walsh (Herts). Brandon Crouchman finished third in his Group with Lewis McKenny fifth, similarly Scott Dowsett and Luke Tarrant after a three way tie for third place. Brody Andrews finished fifth in his Group.

In the Under 15 Girls Round Robin event Rebekah March, Natasha Walsh and Alice McGahon, all Peniel, qualified with Hannah Pitt fifth and Maddison Andrews seventh.

On the Sunday the Peniel Academy players secured all nine qualification places.

In the Under 13 Girls, Bethany March, Hannah Hoskins and Georgina Barnes, nationally ranked 4, 6 and 9 respectively, took the top three spots with Rachel West (Suffolk), daughter of former County junior Tony West, fourth and Micha Panesar fifth.

Under 11 Girls qualifiers were Esther Hoskin, Francesca Barnes and Nicole Cleninson with Sarah Austin fourth and Cambridgeshire’s only weekend player fifth.

In the Under 11 Boys Round Robin qualifiers were Hilkiah Adebanjo, Joel Mussel and Damola Fenuyi with Ben Langford fourth, Amar Kalsi fifth, Manvir Rayatt sixth and Taylor Nunn seventh,
