Poland Dominates Harlow Super League
That sporting and popular figure Filip Szymanski is still the only winner
of a Superleague title this season ,having taken his second title with
a minimum amount of fuss. Only Lorestas Trumpauskas in the final was
able to take a game from him It's frightening to think how much our
Polish visitor has in hand because he seems able to produce a winning
shot in almost any situation.
Trumpauskas is getting close to his very best form. This time he beat
Shuying in 3 very tight games in the semi final having lost to her last
time out. Mention must be made of Euan Liddle who put in perhaps his
best ever Superleague showing succumbing only 11-9 in the fifth in the
quarters to the giant Lithuanian. Another player to really catch the
eye was the likeable Chris Doran who had an unbelievable win over Hubert
Noah before losing a quarter final full of long entertaining rallies
to Shuying.
Another player to shine on debut was Sarra Wang who had an absolutely
superb win over Matthew Spero in round 1. She then played well in losing
to Shuying and lost only 9 in the fifth to Jimmy Walsh. Costas Papantoniou
had another tremendous Superleague beating Neil Charles (who finished
third last time out) before losing a tight match to John Holland. John
found our Polish winner too strong in the semi-final but is bound to
get sharper as the season goes on. Best of the non-seeded players was
Aaron Fennell who started with a fine win over defensive Liu Meihan
and included wins over Zoltan Hosszu and John Dennison to gain a remarkable
11th place finish.
The next SUPERLEAGUE meeting is on Tuesday 6th November and the registration
email will be sent out on 23rd October.
